British Jews Make Substantial Gifts to Weizmann Institute in Israel

A new animal house costing 50, 000 pounds sterling for the Department of Experimental Biology at the Weizmann Institute in Israel and a contribution of 275, 000 pounds to the Institute’s Central Endowment Fund were announced by Lord Rothschild at a dinner in honor of Abba Eban, former Israel Ambassador to the United States.

Lord Rothschild emphasized the great importance of the endowment fund “without which the Weizmann Institute cannot achieve stability.” Isaac Wolfson announced a gift of 100, 000 pounds and Marcus Sieff, co-host for the dinner, announced he had received substantial contributions from 20 donors for the Institute endowment fund.
