British Prime Minister Tony Blair is pressing Yasser Arafat to install Mahmoud Abbas as the Palestinian Authority prime minister. Blair reportedly made his comments in a phone call Tuesday to Arafat, the P.A. president. But there appeared to be little hope of a compromise that would allow Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, to take on the position.
