California’s insurance commissioner subpoenaed a German insurer to appear before a hearing later this month that will investigate the firm’s efforts to resolve unpaid Holocaust-era insurance claims. Chuck Quackenbush said he issued the subpoena because of Munich Re’s “deliberate foot-dragging” in complying with state requests for information about Holocaust-era policies.
