Calm was apparently restored in the Old City after nine days of Jewish anti-Arab violence and vandalism touched off by the fatal stabbing of yeshiva student Eliahu Amdi in the Moslem Quarter. It was the worst ethnic violence in the 20 years since Israel conquered East Jerusalem.
