Leaders of Canadian Jewry comprising a 1962 campaign mission of the Montreal Combined Jewish Appeal and United Israel Appeal were given here today a first-hand briefing on the problems of European Jewry and the plight of the Jewish refugees from North Africa pouring into France.
The members of the group, who will leave for Israel tomorrow to continue their survey of Jewish needs overseas, met with representatives here of the Joint Distribution Committee, the Jewish Agency for Israel and the United Hiao Service. During their five-day tour of France and Italy, the Canadian Jewish group, which is headed by Jacob Lowy, general chairman of the campaign, observed the far-flung operations of the three organizations in visits to installations in Paris, Marseilles, Rome and Napleo.
