A plan to recruit 50 young Canadians for a Peace Corpstype mission to Israel was announced here today. Rabbi M. Libman, chairman of the Toronto Committee of Sherut La’am (Service to the People) said the committee was seeking volunteers between the ages of 18 and 28 for one year’s work in Israel.
Professional people will be paid the Israeli rates for their jobs and non-professionals maintenance and pocket money. Volunteers will have to pay $555 travel and living expenses. Before being placed in Jobs, volunteers will aid reclamation of the ancient forest in the Galilee Hills which is scheduled to become a national park.
