The Vancouver City Council which recently rejected a motion to incorporate an anti-discrimination clause in the new City Charter, has unanimously reversed its stand and left the question open for further discussion.
Following intercession by the Joint Labor Committee to Combat Racial Discrimination and the Civic Unity Council, the aldermen agreed to reopen the question. The City Council had rejected the motion on the grounds that Federal and provincial legislation on discrimination and fair employment practices would make local action unnecessary.
