Cardinal Spellman Contributes to New $1,500,000 Jewish Clinic

The Charles H. Silver Clinic of Beth Israel Hospital here was dedicated in a ceremony attended by over 1,000 persons yesterday. The $1,500,000 six-story structure was named in honor of Charles Silver, president of the hospital and well known philanthropist.

Former Vice President Alben W. Barkley presided over the ceremony. Among the speakers were Bernard Baruch, Mayor Vincent R. Impellitteri, Milton Weill, president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York, and the Right Rev. James J. Lynch, executive director of the New York Catholic Charities who brought greetings from Cardinal Spellman and a $10,000 check from the Cardinal and the Alfred E. Smith Foundation, Mr. Weill told the gathering that the clinic would care for 100,000 persons annually.
