Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Miriam, will donate an estimated $5 million to bankroll 2,000 birthright israel trips, JTA has learned. There are 20,000 to 40,000 18-to-26-year-old Jews on the waiting list for the free 10-day trips to Israel; the waiting list has grown because of insufficient funding.
