Circumcision protects against urinary tract infections during the first year of life, according to researchers writing in the April issue of Pediatrics journal. While doctors continue to debate whether circumcision of male infants is warranted from a medical standpoint, previous studies have shown the procedure helps prevent penile cancer and possibly the transmission of the AIDS virus.
