A generous act by a Clausenburg rabbi in connection with the sadly remembered anti-Jewish riots in Oradeamare last December is widely commented upon in the country.
When the anti-Semitic students returned from their anti-Jewish attacks in Oradeamare, they were ordered to remain in the coaches instead of getting out at the stations to obtain food and tobacco. The order stated that the government would supply them with food and cigars. When the train carrying the students passed through Clausenburg, the Director of the Police ordered Rabbi Glassner, a rabbi of the town, to produce food for the students.
When the Ministry of the Interior heard of the unjustified demands made upon the Rabbi, a trial of the Police Director was ordered. However, Rabbi Glassner informed the tribunal that he has no grievance against the Director.
