A Czech Government commission decided today to recommend that parts of the ghetto of Terezin, in northern Bohemia, be preserved in their original state. Thousands of Jews passed through the Terezin ghetto on their way to Polish death camps.

The Karlsbad synagogue burned down last night, but the police have not yet determined whether the fire was set deliberately or not. Leaders of the Jewish community assume it was arson because the prayer books and prayer shawls were massed together and set ablaze.
