A committee has been formed by the Palestine Jewish League to study ways and means of increasing Jewish-Arab cooperation. It is composed of Chaim Kalvarisky, 76-year-old ex-head of the Arab Department of the Jewish Agency; Martin Buber, professor at the Hebrew University; representatives of the Sephardic community and labor delegates.
Economic problems will be dealt with, including cooperation to end unemployment, as well as Arab Jewish cooperation in anti-aircraft work and assurance of supplies. The committee was formed in accordance with a recommendation by the recent Zionist Congress at Geneva that Jewish-Arab cooperation should be studied.
Ben-Zion Uziel, Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic community, called on High Commissioner Sir Harold MacMichael to express the loyalty of his followers. He also announced establishment here of a spiritual centre for Sephardic Jews.
An exhibition of anti-air raid equipment was opened by the Jewish Agency with the cooperation of the Government.
