Conductor Daniel Barenboim rejected calls from organizers of the Israel Festival to drop plans to perform a work by Richard Wagner, Adolf Hitler’s favorite composer, at a July 7 concert. After receiving a letter from festival officials asking him to reconsider the program, Barenboim said the officials would have to order a change in the program or cancel the performance altogether.
