Representative Thomas D’Alesandro, Democrat of Maryland, today addressed a letter to the Committee on Un-American Activities, calling for an investigation of the Ku Klux Klan.

Declaring that the reported revival of KKK activities “bodes ill for Catholics, Jews and Negro groups, all of whom have sacrificed so much that the nation may endure,” D’Alesandro denounced the “recurrence of the deadly virus of hate.” He said that “such destructive forces must be scotched if possible at the source.”
