An aide to Rep. William Clay, Missouri Democrat, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency last night that the Congressman gave no one a copy of a letter from the Jewish Community Council of St. Louis purportedly urging him to press for a cut-off of Federal funds to the Blackman’s Development Center. Whoever said they got a copy of the letter “is telling a bare-faced lie,” Clay’s administrative assistant declared. The claim that a copy of such a letter was sent to Col. Hassan Jeru-Ahmed, director of the Blackman’s Center, was made to the JTA yesterday by Hassan’s legal advisor, Capt. Moira. She said the letter, dated June 21, was one of the bases for a $25 million libel suit Hassan was filing against the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League which Hassan alleges inspired a letter-writing campaign against him.
