Approximately 150 members of the District of Columbia chapter of the American Association of University Women today heard Congressman Ed Gossett (D-Tex.) make a sharp attack on Jews when he assailed the new Displaced Persons immigration bill proposed by Rep. Emanuel Caller, of New York.

Declaring that the bill “rewards the least deserving and least desirable,” Gossett–who is a member of the House Immigration Subcommittee–said he would like to bring into the United States a “better stock of people”–the ethnic Germans–as contrasted with the “dregs of the DP camps.” The Texas Congressman asserted that “moat of the Jews in DP camps are not those who felt persecution, but are Communistic Russian and Polish Jews” who are “too lazy to work.”
