A Congressional delegation is seeking permission from the State Department to visit and inspect the two former U.S. Navy ships which have been turned over to Egypt by the U.S. Government. These ships are berthed in Baltimore and are free to sail for Egypt at will.

A number of Congressmen have expressed the desire to see for themselves if the ships are intended for “commercial purposes only” and whether they are really “demilitarized.”
