Father Charles E. Coughlin today renewed his radio attack on Jewish “international bankers,” concentrating in particular on Secretary of Treasury Henry Morgenthau Jr. He charged Mr. Morgenthau with having set up a “financial dictatorship” through the $2,000,000,000 stabilization fund regarding which, the priest said, he did not have to report to anyone but President Roosevelt.

Father Coughlin declared that Mr. Morgenthau, during his recent visit to Paris, had conferred with ex-Premier Leon Blum, American Ambassador William Bullitt — whom Coughlin termed “a half Jew” — and Soviet Foreign Commissar Maxim Litvinoff and there had emerged a secret agreement with France. The priest linked his charge of the “secret conference” to the newspaper reports quoting Mr. Bullitt as stating in a speech in Bordeaux that France and the United States stood together in peace and war. (Mr. Bullitt has denied making this statement.) Father Coughlin also referred to the Montefiores, the Samuels, the Rothschild and the Sassoons as “international bankers” who were manipulating vast resources.
