The Jewish press of this city was highly dissatisfied yesterday with the manner in which Father Coughlin anwered the charge made last week by the Jewish Daily Bulletin, that he is spreading anti-Semitism in his radio speeches from Detroit.
The Jewish Daily Forward, featuring the radio priest’s reply, made from Detroit on Sunday, calls it “hypocritical” and declares that his statement is not a withdrawal of his anti-Semitic insinuations.
The Day, a New York Jewish daily, publishes Father Coughlin’s denial with sarcastic comment. The Jewish Morning Journal presents the statement by Rev, Coughlin as a minor news item, attaching no importance to it.
