Taking issue with a recent statement by Rabbi Louis Wolsey of Philadelphia, founder of the American Council for Judaism, urging the Council to “dissolve and forge ahead in the creation of a real land of Israel,”

Reiterating the Council’s determination to keep the compact with which Jews were admitted to equality in the democratic nations of the world as individual members of a religious faith,” Rabbi Berger said: “we shall continue to seek the integration of Jews into American life. We are convinced that this necessary integration cannot be accomplished as members of a separatistic national group with national interests in a foreign state.”
