The question of the Russian refugees stranded in the capitals of western Europe was taken up today by the Council of the League of Nations at its meeting.
According to the figures of the Council, there are 1,000,000 Russian refugees scattered throughout Europe. They are mainly in France and Germany. Many of them are in very hard positions and cannot find employment. The Council has decided to request the International Labor Office to inquire into the possibilities of settling the problem they present.
Alberto N. Guani, Uruguayan member of the League of Nations Council, informed the Council that Russian refugees would be welcome as immigrants to South America, particularly to Uruguayan.
Greece informed the Council that it was ready to transport some hundred thousand Russians elsewhere as it was unable to continue feeding them. The Council voted to continue extending help to the refugees in Greece. The Greek representative said that unless further assistance was extended 40% of the refugees would be worse off next Winter then they were during the last.
