The formerly prosperous town of Mohilev has radically altered for the worse, according to the Jewish communist organ “Emmess”. “The Town”, says the paper, “is virtually approaching utter extinction. With the industries practically dead, the residents of the city are fast leaving for more prosperous places. The leather industry, the mainstay of the city is in a state of paralysis. Of the former thirty-five hotels, only four are doing business now and these are only scantily filled”.
