A school was set fire to, the life of Jewish children imperilled and many Jewish citizens mistreated as a result of a complaint brought against a Roumanian teacher in the elementary school in Telenshty, Bessarabia.
Brodrug, a teacher at the school, was dismissed from his position following the complaint of Jewish parents that he mistreated the Jewish children. In revenge for his dismissal Brodrug set fire to the school. The children were nearly suffocated, many were rescued at the last moment. The parents then thrashed Brodrug.
As a result of this, many Jewish citizens of the town, including women and children, were arrested at the order of Judge Roschescu and the Christian population was incited against at the Jews. The situation became so critical that a delegation of the Jewish community intervened with the Central government in Bucharest, following which General Averescu telegraphed an order that all the arrested be released immediately. An investigation was started against the Magistrate and the other officials involved.
