Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Conference of Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, announced here today that he will meet next month with West Germany’s Economics Minister, Ludwig Erhard, to discuss a Conference request that Germany add Jews who left Eastern Europe after the restitution cut-off date of October 1953, to the rolls of those entitled to German compensation.
Dr. Goldmann also emphasized the aims of a resolution adopted by the Conference at its meeting last week at Copenhagen, calling for the allocation of funds to remain in Germany’s reparations budget by 1965 toward furthering Jewish cultural and educational activities. Estimating that about $16, 000,000 of undisbursed funds will remain in Germany’s reparations budget by 1965, Dr. Goldmann proposed that those funds go toward aiding the activities of the International Bureau for Jewish Education which, he expects, will be established here following a World Conference on Jewish Education to be held at Jerusalem next August.
