Funeral services were held here today for Dr. Haim Bogair-Bogratchov, prominent educator and a founder and for many years principal of the famed Herzliya Gymnasium where he taught many of Israel’s leading personalities including Moshe Sharett, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive. He died here yesterday at the age of 86.

Born in the Russian Crimea, Dr. Bogair settled in Palestine in 1906 and was among the founders of the Herzliya secondary school the same year. A General Zionist member of Israel’s second Knesset, he was also a member of the Tel Aviv Municipal Council from 1920-1930 and had served as a member of the administrative council of the Jewish Agency and a member of the national committee of the Liberal party.

Thousands of his pupils paid their last respects to their teacher this morning when the coffin was placed in the new building of the Herzliya Gymnasium.
