Dr. Nyman Levin, a prominent Jewish physicist who was appointed only last week as a full-time member of Britain’s Atomic Energy Authority died here yesterday of a heart attack. He was 58 years old.
Born in London, Dr. Levin and served as director of the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment and was formerly superintendent of the Admiralty Gunnery Establishment. During the Second World War, he was responsible for building the VHF communications system for the invasion of Europe. He also helped to develop underwater television techniques with which the sunken submarine “Affray” was located in the English Channel in 1951.
