The Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds today reported that first reterns indicate that Fall drives for Jewish welfare funds are continuing the unprecedented gains experienced by the Spring campaigns. “With a number of drives still incomplete, these funds have shown a 22 percent average increase over the amount raised last year,” the report said.
Boston has exceeded its $2,250,000 goal, and its gain over 1943 is over 40 percent. Other outstanding imreases include Norfolk 69 percent and Camden 50 percent. “Geals for 48 campaigns show an average increase of 35 percent over the amount pledged last year. Indications are that these goals will generally be reached or surpassed.” the report added.
