Silverman, spiritual leader of Temple Emanuel here, was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity by Northland College, Ashland, Wise., at commencement exercises held yesterday. The Congregationalist school of higher learning honored Rabbi Silverman for promoting interfaith understanding in his community.
