Edgar Bloom Stern, a New Orleans civic leader and business executive, died here yesterday at a local hospital after he had become ill aboard a train near here. He was 73 years old.

Active in civic and Jewish affairs, Mr. Stern was a member of the executive of the American Jewish Committee and he was on the advisory board of the Joint Distribution Committee. He leaves a wife, the former Edith Rosenwald, daughter of the late Julius Rosenwald; two sons and a daughter.
