Egypt Massing Troops on Israel’s Borders; Says It May Arm Refugees

A continuing stream of Egyptian troops moved into the vicinity of Gaza from points throughout Egypt, it was reported here this weekend from Cairo. At the same time, Egypt was massing troops in the northern part of the Sinai peninsula, the reports added.

An Egyptian Government spokesman said that his Government was considering the demand of the Palestinian refugees in Gaza that they be equipped with arms, and had decided to postpone the projected resettlement of Gaza refugees in the Sinai peninsula. A ten-minute exchange of fire between Egyptian and Israel troops was reported in the Gaza area Saturday by the Egyptian Governor of the Gaza strip.
