Egypt Refuses to Attend High Level Talks with Israel on Gaza

Egypt has Refused to attend high level talks with Israel but insists on a meeting to solve the Gaza border situation on the local military level it was learned here today. United Nations truce headquarters here refuses to disclose the contents of a letter from Col. Abdel Gamal Nasser, Egyptian Premier, to Gen. E.L.M. Burns, UN truce supervisor on the holding of talks.

(At the United Nations it was reported that efforts to reduce tension along the Gaza frontier hit a new snag with Egyptian insistence on “resuming” talks on the military level. The Israelis charge the report from the United Nations said, that this proposal is an Egyptian maneuver to evade high level talks.)
