Ehud Olmert said the Gaza hostage crisis kept him from attending the World Cup final in Germany. “I was invited to attend the game, but I thought that at this particular time, considering the constraints I had to deal with in the Middle East and in Israel, the most I could afford myself was to watch it at home,” the Israeli prime minister said Monday at an annual briefing for the foreign press in Jerusalem.
