Energy Minister Yitzhak Modai cautioned Israelis not to get their hopes up over first indications that oil may be found at a new drill site at Ga’ash, north of Tel Aviv near the main highway to Haifa. If is the first time that region has been explored for oil. Modai said on a radio interview that “The indications of oil at Ga’ash are hopeful but do not necessarily indicate that large quantities, justifying exploitation, are to be found there.” Meanwhile, a new source of natural gas found at a drilling site at Sdot south of Ashkelon was linked to other producing areas last Thursday. The field is now yielding 30 million cubic feet of gas a day.
