Officially speaking Palestine is now “The Country” whenever a translation of the Hebrew name for the Holy Land is required in a Government document. The Hebrew name for Palestine is “Eretz Israel,” which in English is literally “Land of Israel.”
Use of this translation or of the original Hebrew over the air was recently strenuously objected to by Arabs with the result that the phrase was ruled off by the Palestine Broadcasting Company, government-controlled radio station.
