The Jewish population in the famine belt of Bessarabia is suffering increasing hardships because of the conditions prevalent in the region.
Reports received here state that the suffering is particularly great in the region of Ackerman, where a Jewish community of 5,000 is settled. Many fields have remained unsown, the cattle are dying for lack of food. One third of the population has left the region. The Red Cross is providing relief but it is charged in the reports that Jews benefit little from it.
