Fete Canadian Zionist Leader Enroute to Palestine

A farewell dinner was tendered on Tuesday evening to Moses Gelber, president of the Toronto Zionist Organization prior to his departure to Palestine.

The purpose of Mr. Gelber’s visit to Palestine is to investigate the possibilities of furthering the import of Palestinian products into Canada and to make arrangements which would strengthen the commercial ties between Palestine and Canada Mr. Gelber will also examine, on behalf of his Zionist friends here, industrial and agricultural projects in which he and other Canadian Zionists are prepared to take an interest.

Mr. Gelber who for many years has been a prominent leader of the Zionist movement in Toronto was praised at the banquet by Rabbi Sack, Rabbi Gordon, Rabbi J. L. Zlotnick, and Mrs. Dunkelman the president of the Toronto Hadassah. Under the leadership of Mr. Gelber. Toronto, with a population of only 40,000, raised $68,385 in 1928 for the Keren Hayesod outside of considerable sums raised for the Hadassah and the Jewish National Fund.
