For the first time in seventeen days no cases of arson or uprooting of trees were reported today from all over Palestine. (About 1,500 trees were destroyed last night by fire that broke out, for the third time in the past two weeks, in the Balfour Forest, planted by Jews in honor of the man whose proclamation in 1917 opened the way to large scale settlement of Jews in Palestine.)
An ordinance published in the Official Gazette today imposes a six months jail term, a fine of $250, or both for direct or indirect instigation to non-payment of taxes.
