Gregory Wilenkin, former attache at the Russian Embassy in Washington and Tokio and during the World War the special representative in the United States of the Russian minister of finance, died here today at the age of 66.
During the Portsmouth negotiations between Japan and Russia in 1905 he acted as chairman of the Russian financial commission. He was for many years private secretary to Count Witte, the Russian diplomat. Wilenkin was the first Jewish member of the Russian diplomatic corps and he used his influence for the improvement of the position of the Jews of Russia.
