The first Reform Jewish congregation has been organized in South Africa, Miss Lily Montagu, secretary of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, reported to the executive committee of the Union here. About a year a go the initial Reform congregation was established in Melbourne, Australia under the ministry of Rabbi Jerome Mark, formerly of Selma, Alabama. The first confirmation in the Melbourne congregation was recently held, Miss Montagu reported.
Because of the economic depression, the next conference of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, scheduled to be held in June, 1932, has been postponed until 1933 by the executive committee. M. Levinson, of The Hague, president of the Dutch organization for Liberal Reform Judaism, reported to the committee on the proggress of the Reform movement in Holland.
