Five of the seven Jewish Community Centers in the Los Angeles area will be shut down next year in the face of a $3 million deficit. In another development, the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, long the major financial supporter of the JCCs, is falling short of its annual fund-raising goal and has fired about 40 of its 150 employees.
