David Mark Berger, a member of the Israeli Olympic team in Munich, is one of the hostages being held by the Arab terrorists. Berger, a weight-lifter who at one time lived here, was born May 24,1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, He is a graduate of Tulane University and was the national collegiate champion in the 165 lb. weight-lifting class in 1965.
Berger, whose father is a doctor in Cleveland, was a member of the American Maccabiah team in 1968. He won the championship in his class, the National Junior Championship in the 165 lb. weight-lifting class in 1969, and the New York City Senior Metropolitan Championship the same year.
