(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

The opinion that France is actually ready to transfer the mandate over Syria, is expressed today by the diplomatic correspondent of the London “Daily Telegraph.”

Discussing rumors concerning negotiations between Italy and France on the subject, the correspondent suggests that the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and other statesmen are anxious to return the Syrian mandate to the League. if this can be done without loss of prestige to France. France might acquiesce to Italy becoming the new mandatory power for Syria, provided Italy rewards France by abandoning its aspirations in Tangiers and Morocco, the correspondent states.
