As part of discussions leading up to the 100th anniversary of the 1905 law guaranteeing separation of church and state, Joseph Sitruk reportedly sent a short paper to President Jacques Chirac in which he affirmed his support for the law, reflecting a position also adopted by the country’s leading Catholic bishops.
