“Peace and security,” not “concessions and retreat” was the slogan that drew several thousand Gahal supporters to a mass rally in the municipal square last night to hear party leaders Menachem Beigin and Joseph Sapir outline the opposition view of the current situation. Begin declared that no nation in the world “would agree to withdraw from its secure borders in lieu of a peace treaty, as is being proposed to us.” He accused the Big Powers of making “demands that we destroy our security and then they would provide guarantees for our destruction.”
