An agricultural settlement in the hills of Western Galilee south of the Lebanese border was re-named yesterday in honor of the family of William Rosenwald, New York philanthropist and honorary chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, who attended the ceremonies.
Kfar Rosenwald, formerly Saryin, is being settled by recently married sons of Jewish farmers who came to Israel from Moslem countries shortly after Israel’s independence in 1948. Each family will receive a house and a one acre plot for poultry sheds and gardens and a five-acre share in cooperative orchards. Mr. Rosenwald, who presided, is in Israel as a member of the special UJA Study Mission on immigrant needs in the aftermath of the Six Day War.
