A meeting of representatives of all Federal Unions of German Jewry was convened here yesterday for the purpose of taking council as to the measures to be taken in the face of the dangers with which German Jewry is confronted in view of Adolph Hitler’s Chancellorship.
The meeting, which was presided over by Leo Wolff, elected a Committee of Five, to represent all German Jewry and to take such action as may be deemed expedient.
An appeal was issued to German Jewry “to stand together in this serious period.”
Leaders of the Jews whose voting allegiance has been given in the past to the Centre Party visited former Chancellor Wilhelm Marx yesterday for the purpose of learning from the latter the attitude of the Centre Party with regard to the rights of the Jews.
Dr. Marx declared that the Centre Party will do all within its power to protect the religious and civil equality rights of the Jews and Schechita. He urged the Jews not to tire in their fight for the maintenance of equal rights.
