The League for Freedom and Human Dignity today addressed a letter to Chancellor Konrad Adenauer expressing hope that the West German Government will act speedily to re-open the reparations talks with Israel and representatives of Jewish groups from other countries.

The League called on the West German Government to submit a concrete proposal on reparations as requested by Israel and the Jewish groups, and to separate the question of reparations to Jews from that of the London conference on Germany’s commercial debts to other countries.

The Berlin newspaper Nacht Depesche says that Germany’s talks with Israel will have to be conducted “more realistically and in a better spirit” if they are not to break down completely.
