Leader of Liberal Jews Formulates Platform for Agreement (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
What may be regarded as the conditions which will be insisted upon by an influential group of non-Zionists in Germany as a part of the agreement on their entering the Jewish Agency for Palestine, was formulated by one of the influential leaders of the group.
Landesgerichtrat Lienthaler-Schneider, leader of the Association of Liberal Jews in Germany, in an article which is to appear this week in the “Juedische Liberale Zeitung,” communicated to the Jewish Telegraph Agency in advance by the Association, sets forth the following conditions which will be asked by his group before they can enter an agreement to work with the Zionists in the Jewish Agency for the rebuilding of Palestine:
1. The Liberal or Reform Jews must be placed in such a position as to have an influence on the Palestine work.
2. That the attitude of the Liberal Jews toward the Palestine work, as well as towards other questions in relation to the outside world, be respected by the Zionists.
3. That the joint work of the Zionists and non-Zionists in Palestine be shorn of its political character, notably that immigration to the country is to proceed in accordance with the country’s capacity for economic absorption and that friendly relations with the Arabs be aimed at.
4. That the agreement on Palestine colonization work be regarded as a part of a general agreement to carry on Jewish settlement work wherever possible.
