There is great excitement here over the bitter attack of former State Secretary August Miller, a Right Socialist, against Zionists who occupy government positions.
Miller visited Palestine and describing his impression of the country in the VOSSISCHE ZEITUNG, writes:
I was never a friend of the Zionists, especially of those who do not go to Palestine but remain in their adopted countries. The fact is, there are three Zionist leaders who occupy important official positions in Prussia. From the political viewpoint, much cam ne said against this, but it seems that political tact is not very well developed in them”.
This refers first to Dr. Badt, an influential associate, of the Prussian Minister of the Interior Severing, and second, to Hans Goalar, head of the Prussian Press office. The third is non-existent.
Dr. Badt is a member of the Prussian Diet and was attacked last week by German-Nationalist members of the Diet on the same grounds. In his answer Dr. Badt pointed out that England had had many Jewish Ministers, and that the Zionist Louis Brandies occupies a position in the highest court in the United States. Besides, Dr. Badt stated, in such a case the only judge can be the man’s own conscience.
Political circles here comment on the simultaneous appearance of Miller’s article and the attack of the German-Nationalists, which is not regarded as a mere coincidence.
